FLORAL LOVE

Absolutely IN LOVE with my new Topshop floral bodycon dress, £29.

I spotted this online a few weeks ago and finally ventured to the Marble Arch store (one of the few in London stocking it) and low and behold, they had one left - in my size! It was a sign! Meant to be.

The fit is perfect and it’s very different to anything else I have bought recently. I plan to rock it with some booties, and either black tights or bare legs - it’s quite versatile. Topshop have a lot of prints in very similar shapes to this at present.

I was buzzing for hours after buying this. The most satisfying type of shopping is when you have your eye on something for ages, finally get to try it on and LOVE it!

Very happy days.

Joy for Jennifer

After spending a good hour catching up on all Oscars-related goss today, my star of the show is the lovely Jennifer Lawrence who picked up BEST ACTRESS for Silver Linings Playbook.

The 22 year old (yes she is ONLY 22) is having a hugely successful award season and now has a coveted Academy Award to add to her collection. The witty young one suffered a little tumble over her white almost-wedding-like Dior Haute Couture gown on her way to the stage to collect her award (but I am not going to post a picture as her news should not be about that!) and then cracked a joke when she saw her standing ovation saying ‘You are just standing because I fell and you feel bad’.And how we loved her for taking it on the chin like a true pro!

The more I read and hear of this girl, the more I love her! Humble, funny, down to earth, gracious and gorgeous. Go Team Jennifer!

Cover Crushes

It’s true these March issues have been out a few weeks now BUT I have only recently started blogging again so am a bit late to the party with declaring my love…

My favourite magazine covers this month are all UK counterparts.

Elle - Victoria Beckham

There is very little Vicky B (as I like to endearingly call her) can do wrong in my eyes. I love her style, her ambition, her humour, her hair, her husband, her kids, her clothing line… everything! While this cover is obviously photoshopped (but aren’t they all?), it’s visually stunning and she looks incredible.

Vogue - Cara Delevigne

Fashion’s new wildchild (a title she is loving) absolutely delivers in her first ever British Vogue cover. Her sharp features, smokey eyes, not to mention those brows are gorgeous against the blue background. I love the colours! This girl is destined for HUGE things… Just don’t try brand any products with her name. She has just copyrighted it, don’t you know.

Marie Claire - Megan Fox

So this is a pretty standard cover - attractive female, eye-catching outfit, white background - it purely stands out for me because I LOVE Ms Fox! As long as she stops with these face fillers (you’re 26, love), she is still easily one of the most beautiful starlets in Hollywood. I’m in love with her eyes, make-up and hair in this.

So yeah, now that we are fast approaching the end of February I don’t have long to wait before the excitement of next month’s set of covers approaches! Hurray for silver linings!

Rosie Miss Rosie…

Not going to lie, I have a LOT of catching up to do with New York, London and Milan (so far) Fashion Weeks. Gone are the days when I could follow each show in real time via social media and live streams as they happened. Now my manic London lifestyle means I usually have a whopper 2-3 hour catch up some Sunday afternoon once all four weeks have ended (which I very much look forward to).

But one thing I have been able to follow is the front row glamour. Olivia Palermo is one of my ultimate style crushes and I am yet to see a bad outfit from her. This season has been no different, but then there is only one woman who can put in just one appearance and blow them all out of the water! Yes, the gorgeous and my girl-crush (as you well know), Rosie Huntington-Whiteley.

Rosie flew into London straight from LA purely to sit front row at Christopher Bailey’s Burberry show before jetting back again (as you do) but she left some mark on the media and fashion fans alike!

Wearing a simple red trouser suit with black sandals, loose hair and natural make-up, Rosie looked absolutely beautiful!

Cannot bear to live without…

…. my bottle of L’Oreal Kerastase’s Elixir Ultime oil. I bought this online when my beloved (or so I thought - until now, that is…) Moroccan Oil ran out and Feelunique, com had 20% off one day. It IS very pricey but as only a small amount is needed every time, I figured it would last a long time - which it has.

Cannot begin to describe how amazing this is! I comb a little bit through my hair when I get out of the shower and leave it to dry naturally before blow-drying and it instantly smooths and softens my locks. This helps keep my ends healthy and unbroken in between haircuts (I am a GHD fan, after all) while also replenishing any moisture or natural oils lost from styling and the elements. My hair feels like it does the week after a great cut… but all the time! It is also very lightweight and smells lovely. I recommend just using a small amount from mid-length down to the ends before styling.

It just ticks every single box.I simply cannot fault it.

10/10.

I will happily buy this again and again!

BRITS 2013

Ok so on a fashion-only note, the ceremony was a bit of a flop this year. So many shocking errors (I am looking at you Rita Ora, Katherine Jenkins, Lana Del Ray, Little Mix, Jessie J, Lisa Snowden and don’t even get me started on you, Gemma Arterton and Stooshe!) but there was one star who really nailed it and put them all to shame…. Little Miss Taylor Swift.

Taylor’s stunning full-length black Ellie Saab number showed off her model figure while maintaining a classy and sophisticated look that did not appear ridiculous on the red carpet during the current Antarctic temperatures in the UK!

But if we focus on what the show is actually all about - the music - the real stars were Emeli Sande, Ben Howard and Mumford and Sons. (Taylor’s performance was fantastic don’t get me wrong, but the whole Taylor/Harry Styles pantomime is getting a little tiresome now).

Sande, Howard and Mumford and Sons are three of my favourite artists right now and it is refreshing to see real talent being rewarded. All three delivered show stopping performances, humble speeches and not one whiff of drama or attention-seeking behaviour! Three class acts that a lot of other music artists could learn a thing or two from!

Well done guys.

And I do need to add that I loved little One Direction’s performance of their Red Nose Day pop gem ‘One Way Or Another (Teenage Kicks). What wee cuties.

Smoke & Jackal

Obsessed! When two of my favourite musicians get together I know it’s going to be good! Smoke & Jackal is the side project of Kings of Leon bassist, Jared Followill, and Mona’s front man, Nick Brown. The two have been friends for years and the EP (to be released on October 16th, with ‘No Tell’ being released on Aug 28th) blossomed over a few drinks at Brown’s Nashville pad one night. A week later, it was complete.

I have been dying to hear this for weeks, and the end result did not disappoint. Jared’s bass and Nick’s vocals combine perfectly to produce a truly incredible song, that will stay in your head all day. I was hooked on first listen.

If you haven’t already, check it out:

Can’t wait to hear the rest!

Hair Idol

Totally crushing on this photo of Nicole Scherzinger from September’s British ‘Cosmopolitan’ magazine. She is definately a hair and beauty inspiration of mine! Gorgeous.

Glam Gaga

Loving this shot of Lady Gaga by Mert & Marcus from American’s Vogue prestigous September issue.

Yes it’s airbrushed of course but for Gaga, it is simple, classy and beautiful.
More of this type stuff please Lady - although maybe with clothes on next time.
